is situated at the confluence of three mountain streams-Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and kundala.1600 m above sea level, this hill station was once the summer resort of the erstwhile British government in South India.  Sprawling tea plantations, picture-book towns, winding lanes and holiday facilities make this a popular resort town.  Munnar also has the highest peak in south India, Anamudi, which towers over 2690 m.  Anamudi is an ideal spot for trekking. 
PONMUDI an idyllic hill resort with narrow, winding pathways and cool, green, woodern environs is 915 m above sea level.  
NELLIYAMPATHY a fascinating hill station is at a height of 467 to 1572 m above sea level.  At least 10 hairpin bends have to be negotiated on the ghat road that passes through the breathtaking evergreen forests of the Sahya Ranges.  There are many more Hill Stations around .

 

 

 

           Settled  in  the  lush  forests  of the  western ghats are  fourteen wildlife sanctuaries. And skirting these exotic destinations are some of the most delightful trekking trails in the country. 
PERIYAR WILDLIFE SANCTUARY,THEKKADY
is  one  of  the  world's  most fascinating natural wildlife sanctuaries noted for its geomorphology, wildlife and landscape.  A boat ride on the splendid Periyar lake is the best way to experience the sanctuary.  The greatest attraction here is the herds of wild elephant that come down to the lake to frolic in the waters.  Tiger, Sambar, Bison, Spotted Deer, Leapord, Malabar Flying Squirrel etc. can also be spotted in the forest.  
KUMARAKOM BIRD SANCTUARY 16 kms from Kottayam is a beauty on its own with beautiful scenary around ,has local birds like water fowl, cuckoo, owl, egret, heron and the water duck in plenty as well as the migratory Siberian duck.  
PARAMBIKULAM WILDLIFE SANCTUARY in Palaghat district has a real treasure of mammals, reptiles and birds, Tigers, Sambar, Barking dear, Spotted dear, Crocodiles, Cane turtles, Darters, Black eagles etc.  
WAYANAD WILDLIFE SANCTUARY in Wayanad district is a beauty on its own with Elephants, Tigers, Panthers, Jungle cats, Monitor lizards, Peacocks, Babblers wood peckers etc. in plenty to see and enjoy.

          The forests of the western ghats are punctuated with large and small waterfalls that roar, gurgle and splash down the mountain side.  Almost all these scintillating cascades are the venues for excursions around the year.  
PALARUVI 75 kms from Kollam town ,which means "stream of milk" makes its way down the rocks from a height of 300 feet is really a delight to watch.  
ATHIRAPALLY 78 kms from Kochi located at the entrance to the Sholayar ranges is a wonder to watch.  
VAZHACHAL a short drive from Athirapally a picturesque spot is adjacent to dense green forest land and is a part of the chalakudy river.

          Sharing its western border with the Arabian sea Kerala has a 600 km long shoreline dotted with some of the finest ,most charming beaches of the world, coconut groves, natural harbors, lagoons and sheltered covers. 
THE KOVALAM BEACH is internationally  renowned  and a  favorite  haunt  of tourists. Kovalam consists of three adjacent crescent beaches. The south most, known as the Lighthouse Beach, is the most popular one. 
THE VARKALA BEACH is a seaside resort and spa. High cliffs with rich mineral springs rise majestically from the coastline. 
THE CHERAI BEACH bordering Vypeen island is ideal for swimming.  Dolphins are occasionally seen here. 
THE ALLEPPEY BEACH is one of the most popular spots in Alappuzha.   The pier, which extends into the sea here is about 140 years old.
